So...as I was saying

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled across a blog created by a Stay at Home Dad (SAHD, pronounced "SAD"). In the blog the SAHD leaves Post-it notes to his wife about the everyday goings on of a SAHD. I found two things funny about this: 1. The blog itself! It was creatively done and the dad had the requisite sense of humor needed to do this job. If you haven't seen it yet you can check it out here: http://moreclaremore.com/stay-home-dad-leaves-post-wife/ 2. About 17 people had the reaction "HEY!! It's a funny blog about a SAHD! I need to show this to Dean!!" Thanks for thinking of me everyone! The blog has clearly inspired me to resurrect my old blog (probably not for long as previously stated, but we'll see! I have decided to take a more serious tone with my blog this time however. Ford having Type 1 Diabetes is a serious stiuation and I take my job as his caretaker seriously. Here is a brief synopsis of our typical day: first it's breakfast time
breakfast is usually easy as I only have to keep the following things in mind: his current blood glucose level(BG), his rise/fall rate, the amount of carbs he is having for breakfast, the TYPE of carbs he is having for breakfast (25 carbs of cereal acts differently than 25 carbs of toast), the time he is having breakfast, the amount of insulin he is getting, how fast he is eating, what his breakfast/lunch BG's have been for the past few days, what he'll probably be having for lunch and is it a school day?...off the top of my head
After breakfast Ford gets to watch a little TV then it's straight on to homework! As he doesn't usually have any for school I try to come up with challenging yet fun things to help reinforce his core basics After homework, it's free time!
There are few things more rewarding to me than the time I get to spend playing with my son!
All the while that these activities are happening, I have to remain extra vigilant of his BG Anyway, I hope to at least be able to do this occasionally. Ford and I have a lot of fun during the day and I hope to show that to some of you through this blog!

Looks like I’m going to try this again…

…but let’s be honest, I probably wont follow through with it (see: Big Baby Daddy, Super Incredible Photo Blog Extravaganza) but I’m going to give it at least a partial effort! One cool thing is that (as of yet) NOBODY knows that I’m doing this! Another cool thing is that this is going to be a photo/bloggy blog. Crap, Briana already noticed I’m doing this! Seriously it’s been like two minutes!!! Damn, she’s nosy!! ; ) Anyway, it’s New Year’s Eve…why do I HATE New Year’s so much? I quite enjoy most other holidays. Should be bursting with possibilities in the year to come, but as usual, I’m just depressed…not suicide hotline depressed or anything like that…just a (un)healthy dose of melancholy. The main reason I’m doing it is to write a little again. I want to write a book. I don’t even care if it’s awful, but I want to write a book and I want at least three people to read it! I think writing my thoughts down will help me eventually achieve this goal. Sorry if you end up reading this and it seems like I’m writing a bunch of incoherent ramblings…it’s just my process working itself out (and, like I aforementioned. I’ll probably do this for a week and then quit) I also hope to have THREE followers by the of 2014!! My wife’ll probably eventually read this, so there’s ONE already!!! Woo Hoo!! I can take off until March!!! I’ll probably write about THE BOY more than anything, so I won’t mention him in this post… (Posted on Tumblr 3 weeks ago, I have decided to go back to Blogger as I like their photo formatting better)

POW and Runner up March 20

I really like the photo of Ford playing on the slide, but the photo of Ford at the Arctic Ring of Life exhibit watching the seals play is easily my favorite of the week.

POW x3!

Each photo of the week will be narrated by Daddy as to what Ford was thinking at the time...

"What the what...?"
"OH Boy!"

"Lookit, Daddy, Lookit! It's the school bus! Can you believe it Daddy? Lookit it's the school bus! Huh Daddy, can you believe it?"

Week 9 POW and Runner up

In the runner up, Daddy captures a nice moment with Mommy and Ford. Ford usually loves to have his hair dryed by the blow dryer and this day was no exception.
In the POW, a teething Ford had been chewing on his coat sleeve at Costco. When Mommy took one sleeve off, Ford decided to chew on his hand instead. Daddy captures Ford's woeful look as Mommy tries to explain to him that he shouldn't chew on his hand.

POW and runner up

I really like the photo of the red car driving down our street in the snow storm, but this week my favorite photo is of my niece Eileen taking a bath. Maybe it's her big beautiful eyes or maybe it's the fact that it is indeed possible for a child to look at me when I am holding a camera, but this one is my best of the week IMO. Looking at it now, I should have cropped Ford's elbow out of the photo...
